Wow, the time is just flying by. I have got all my work done for my Uni assignments and I have just finished University until September … I feel I can breathe out now … Well just a little.
I did get a bit of a shock last week … I decided to check some paperwork and looked over my flight details. Something didn’t seem quite right so I rang Air France to confirm the terminal at Manchester. It was a good job I did … the agent on the phone informed me that my flight from Lima to Cusco (Peru) had been cancelled, and she asked if I had received the email; which I hadn’t. After a bit of a panic on my part, the agent rebooked me on a slightly later flight, that works out better for me. I now arrive in Cuzco at 20.03pm; and she issued me new tickets immediately. Despite the hiccup, Air France were really helpful.
Paddington was relieved that we got the flights sorted. I also spoke to IVHQ, who have sent some great information and important details which I’ll need on our arrival.
We decided to walk into Blackpool today, along the Golden Mile, to find some souvenirs of Blackpool to take to our host family in Peru. Paddington picked out several sticks of Blackpool rock in different flavours, a tea towel with images of Blackpool Tower, the Pleasure Beach, the piers, the big wheel, the trams and donkeys; a Blackpool Tower key ring and a fridge magnet. I bought some colouring pencils as we thought it would be a nice idea to take some things over for the school children where I will be teaching. I still need to buy a few more things for the school.
The school in Cusco, Maximo Nivel, is a charitable organisation for children whose families can’t afford an education. I can’t take as much equipment as I would like, so when I am there, I’m going to find out what they need and send them a parcel when I get home. Paddington thinks this is a good idea as I have to leave enough space in my rucksack for him as he doesn’t like being squashed.
It started to rain quite heavily whilst we were shopping so Paddington suggested we go for a coffee and a marmalade sandwich. We just managed to get a table in the Hive cafe. Paddington had a pot of tea with a marmalade sandwich, whilst I had a coffee and a chocolate and orange cake … which Paddington helped me to eat of course.
Even though it was still raining, we decided to walk home, Paddington climbed into my backpack so he wouldn’t get wet. We’re both really looking forward to going now and getting excited about the trip.
TWO WEEKS AND FIVE DAYS … Soon be time to go … Eek.
