Monday 24th January

I have to cover an early shift at work, but as I finish at 11 o’clock, I’m going back to Go Outdoors in Preston to exchange some walking trousers … I picked up the wrong size the day before whilst out with my sister and her husband. I don’t mind as I can take my time and look around as I’ve started thinking more about clothes and the things I might need to pack.

My brother- in- law said I needed a rechargeable head torch with a solar panel … That was something that I hadn’t ever thought of, and when they said why I might need one I decided I’d better look into it. I think they have visions of me getting either: (A). Hopelessly lost in the midst of the Peruvian Rainforest and the Andes; or, (B). Falling off the side of a mountain, never to be seen again … Oh ye of little faith.

To be honest, it was something I would have never considered buying, but thinking about it, and that the area that I’m going to may be remote and close to the Rainforest, and also the trip to Machu Picchu is a 4 am start; then it’s probably a good idea to get one as it will be pretty dark and the street lighting may be non-existent in some areas…. It will also be useful for reading and writing up my journals whilst I’m there. I’ll see if I can pick one up in the store.

I have also just paid for my trips to Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain, and have emailed a copy of my passport to IVHQ’s head office.

I can tick that one off the to do list now….
